Black-Owned Businesses in Victoria to Support this Month

February has arrived which means it’s Black History Month. In addition to educating yourself on the history of black people in Canada and beyond, why not take the time to support a black owned business (or several) this month? Below, we’ve put together a list of three black owned businesses in Victoria that we can’t get enough of. From the home decor at Good Vibe Space to the moisturizing shea butter skincare products from Shea Butter Market, check out this list of three businesses to shop at in Victoria this month.

Good Vibe Space

Right in the heart of Victoria is where you will find Good Vibe Space. This laid back lifestyle boutique shop features a mix of personal care and home decor products. Products are all ethical and fair trade, and many were created by artists and brands that are local to Victoria. Shoppers can expect to find everything from jewellery and books to wall art and home goods.

Shea Butter Market

Pure, natural, and authentic African shea butter is what you’ll find at Shea Butter Market.  This local skincare brand sources their shea butter directly from the Kperisi village in Northern Ghana. In this village, the shea butter is harvested from shea nuts and turned into butter using practices that have been handed down for centuries. Shea Butter Market then transforms it into high end personal care products for your every need. On their website, you can shop lip balm, body lotion, face cream, hand cream, bar soap, after sun cream, and baby products. They’ve also expanded into hibiscus teas and bath salts.

NancyK Boutique

NancyK Boutique is your one stop shop for accessories and apparel. In addition to the trendy clothing available for men, women, and children, NancyK Boutique also offers a wide range of beautiful African clothing, such as print scarves, dresses, face masks, and more. They even have affordable sleepwear and women’s clothing for all occasions, from casual loungewear to evening wear.

If you’re visiting Victoria this February (or any month!), then be sure to make a point of shopping at the excellent boutiques above. And if you need a place to stay, we’d love to host you at the Days Inn Victoria on the Harbour. We offer quality service, comfortable rooms, and an unbeatable location in Victoria’s downtown harbour.
