KICK START THE YEAR IN VICTORIA

  • June 18, 2018

Tired of the winter already? Come visit Victoria to kickstart the new year.

POLAR BEAR SWIM

January 1 Polar Bear Swims are a longstanding tradition. The equivalent of a cold morning shower for your ENTIRE YEAR, jumping into ocean water in the middle of the winter is one of the most powerful ways to feel alive. If you’re on Vancouver Island looking to cross this item off your bucket list, then you’ll want to head to the shores of nearby Sidney, at high noon! This event is absolutely free (although you will have to sign a liability waiver). Take on this classic experience with a community of adventure seekers, and then treat yourself to a cup of hot cocoa to warm up! More details available here.

CORB LUND

Corb Lund is one of Canada’s most tireless musicians, a true-blue country troubadour with a sense of humour and a gift for penning catchy, expressive tunes you’ll find yourself humming long after you see him January 9 at the Royal Theatre in Victoria. Come see him perform classic tunes like “Time to Switch to Whiskey,” “Horse Soldier! Horse Soldier!” and “The Truck Got Stuck.” You can find tickets for this show here

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE

Queens of The Stone Age are a truly classic rock band. Lead singer Josh Homme knows how to write a hook that grabs hold of you and doesn’t let go, and when they perform it’s with a swagger that says “we know. We’re the best at this.” If you like rock music and have never seen them, you NEED to correct that oversight. Their latest album, Villains, is as good as they’ve ever been – which means you get to see this already triumphant band at their very best at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre this January 22. Tickets here.
