Three Ways to Experience the Nuances of Staying Calm

A multitude of ideas can pop into everyone’s heads when we’re asked to stay calm. Maybe this is before someone breaks the bad news to us. Or, maybe the task at hand can be fairly frustrating and focus and calmness is required. Or, perhaps (and hopefully not) there’s an emergency situation and a level head is required. In any of these cases, staying calm takes practice. Surely you wouldn’t want to be in any of these scenarios constantly to be able to practice calmness, so here are three ways you can practice your serenity.

Victoria Bowmen Archery Tournament

The Victoria Bowmen archery tournament, is available to people from all varying levels of archery. That is, whether you’re just starting out or have years and decades of experience under your belt, this tournament is just for you.  Registration will likely cost you $20, but if you are a member it is only $10. Pick one of the few dates available then head over to the Victoria Bowmen Outdoor Range in Victoria British Columbia.  Set-up starts at 9:00 AM! Surely, this is one way you can practice staying calm with high precision and focus.

Victoria Yoga and Puppies

Pop on over to Bullen Park for one of six sessions of Yoga and puppies on the weekend of August 17th and 18th, to get your dose of staying calm in unique situations.  If you are a puppy-lover, you are in big trouble. Our personal challenge to you is to try and keep a straight face, and keep your excitement on a tight leash while these puppies roam around as you adjust from the downward dog position.  Classes fill up quickly, and tickets are only $10-- this is something you wouldn’t want to miss. The best part? All puppies are adoptable!

Cooking Workshop

Cooking can be a major frustration for many, if not most, people. Common questions can be: will it even taste good? Why do I keep burning my food? And the notorious, “how will I know when it’s done?”  To add complexity, this workshop for cooking food features Whole Food, and plant-based ingredients which can be more finicky when it comes to timing, temperature, and overall technique. Learn to practice grace and calmness at this workshop on Monday August 19, 2019 at the Ukranian Cultural Centre.  Class starts at 6:30 and ends at 8:00 PM. Tickets are $25, which includes demonstrations, recipes, and a full meal (which means a full belly)!

With these events spread out across the region of Victoria, you’ll likely be strapped to find the right place to stay. While any location might suffice, staying at the Days Inn Victoria on the Harbour can ensure that you have access to the best amenities.  This includes a heated pool (and whirlpool), on-site lounge, and an on-site diner.  Reserve your stay with us today.

Vancouver Island is an incredible west coast rainforest getaway. The residents are immersed in nature and have a great appreciation for the land. So much appreciation, in fact, that many choose to live off their own plots of land. Besides, they’ve got the space to do so!  But what does one do about

Warmer weather, and warmer nights. Makes it hard to stay indoors, all stuffed up. But how can you stay outdoors and always have something to do? The options are endless and these three are just a sample
