Wineries to Try in Victoria

  • June 18, 2018

Is there any better way to experience the sun and the fresh air coming off the ocean than atop the rolling hills of a vineyard, sipping an amazing local wine on top of the terroir that produced it? Complement Victoria’s natural beauty with a trip to these local wineries for a beautiful day out.

COOK STREET VILLAGE WINEWORKS

A ubrew with style, the Cook Street Village Wineworks is in the heart of one of Victoria’s coolest, most beautiful neighbourhoods. We include them here because they’re close, and they actually oak barrel their own blends on site, making for an upscale, hands on winery experience inside the city itself. This is a one of a kind experience, and a short walk from the downtown Harbour.

DRAGONFLY HILL VINEYARD

Located on Old Saanich Road just outside of the city, Dragonfly Hill Vineyard is named after the dragonflies that make its colorful hills home. Featuring some of the oldest vines on the island, they make limited runs of gorgeous wines that reflect the region they were grown. Their Ortega Auxerrois is a fantastic white, and more than suitable for sipping while watching ocean waves lap on the shore.

CHURCH & STATE

Located in Brentwood Bay, Church & State Wines are so called because they prioritize a balance between modernity and tradition. They’ve received awards for Canada’s best Red seven times since 2009, and many gold medals for both their reds and whites. With an elegant dining room with a scenic view, if you’re going to visit one winery on Vancouver Island this should be it.

Victoria is a gem of a community; it has all the amenities of a much bigger city with a more relaxed vibe. We hope that when you visit, you’ll stay with the Days Inn Victoria on The Harbour. Have a look at our special offers to plan your trip today!
