Haunted history in Victoria!

  • June 18, 2018

Victoria always has a refreshingly cool breeze coming off the Georgia Strait, but at the SPOOKIEST TIME OF YEAR it takes on a decided chill! Wrap up and visit for a perfect Halloween!

WAKE OF THE DEAD

George Romero left us this year, but given that there’s no other filmmaker who devoted as much time to life that persists after death, there’s never been a more fitting time to celebrate his work. Victoria’s infamous movie theatre, the Roxy Cine-gog (get it?) will be airing a marathon of Romero’s original “Dead” trilogy – Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of The Dead, and Day of The Dead – on October 7th. Get a headshot start on the Halloween season! Details here.

ACTUAL HAUNTINGS

Victoria has a long history, which means that it’s PACKED with tales of ghosts and hauntings. Whether you’re a sceptic or a true believer, exploring these sites with reported hauntings will be sure to make your skin crawl! There’s a comprehensive list here, but I can definitely recommend looking into Beacon Hill’s “Screaming Doppelganger” or the gallows under Bastion Square. Scary!

ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW

The quintessential Midnight Movie, The Rocky Horror Picture Show comes to the Vic Theatre on Saturday, October 28! Get dressed up, show up and Let’s Do The Time Warp in the aisles! Don’t forget your fishnets!

DRACULA

A sensual and eerie ballet staged at the McPherson Playhouse, this adaptation of Bram Stoker’s classic novel will enact the music of the night on October 29! Tickets and details here.

If you’re coming to Victoria for the Halloween season, don’t take a chance; stay at the hotel that is 100% DEFINITELY NOT HAUNTED (and by not “not haunted,” I mean “offers superlative service at affordable rates”): The Days Inn Victoria on the Harbour. Book your stay today!
